Grouping Props, Characters, and Elements

Sometimes you want to group elements together to move them as one or to copy a entire group into another shot. For example, perhaps you want to group these two characters and the camel together.

1. In 2D view, tap the first element you want to include in the group. A horizontal menu appears. Tap the word Group.

2. Now tap other item you want to include in the group. Press the "Add to group" button to add it to the group. Repeat this process to add additional items to the group.

3. When you're done adding items to your group, press the Done button.

4. Now you see a group with a boundary box around it. In this example, there are two characters - Mamud and Rebecca - and a camel in one group.

5. The item with the red circle - in this example, Mamud - is the Central Item in the group. You can edit this item as you would normally. Change the pose, expression, or other features. You can also move the group as one in your shot by dragging and moving it. All other items in the group that are not Central items are called Peripheral items. In this example, Rebecca and the camel are peripheral items.

6. If you want to edit or make changes to another item in your group, you must tap outside the group on the canvas. Then tap a peripheral item to make it the central item. In this example, we tapped outside the group boundary box and then tapped Rebecca. Rebecca is now the central item and can be edited like any character.

7. With this grouping feature, you can move Peripheral items within the group without affecting the rest of the group. This can be helpful if you have a character or prop that you want to keep as part of the group but want it to have its own independent movement. In this example below, we first made Rebecca a Peripheral item. Then we moved her closer to Mamud for a tighter dialogue scene. Rebecca moved but the group stayed intact.

8. You can also add items to a group after you've already completed a group. Press the Central item, view the horizontal menu, and again press the Group button. Now press the new item you wish to include in the group. In the item below, we've tapped another prop. A menu appears. Press Add to group and then Done.

9. If you wish to Ungroup your group, press the Central item, press Group, and then press Ungroup all. Your group is ungrouped.
